In last week’s blog we talked about meta tags and how to use them effectively. The next step to increase your CTRs is by implementing schema markup!
What is it exactly? Schema markup is a type of structured data that can be added to eCommerce websites to help search engines understand the content on the page. It provides additional information about products, prices, availability, and other relevant details. Schema markup is important for eCommerce websites because it can help to improve visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs) and increase click-through rates (CTR) from potential buyers.
Here are some of the clever ways that eCommerce websites can use schema markup to improve their search engine rankings and drive more traffic:
The logo markup adds your brand’s logo on the top left in the SERPS. This aids your brand awareness and can help draw the eye.
This schema adds an image of the product on the right-hand side of the listing. This allows potential buyers to see exactly what the product is and can entice them to click through for more information (or hopefully add to cart!).
Product markup provides search engines with detailed information about your products, such as the name, brand, SKU number, description, price, currency and availability. This can help to ensure that your products appear in relevant search results and increase the likelihood of clicks and conversions.
Reviews markup allows you to display user reviews and ratings on your product pages. This can help to build trust with potential customers and increase the likelihood of conversions. Reviews markup can also help to improve your search engine rankings by providing search engines with additional information about your products.
Breadcrumb markup provides users with a clear path of navigation through your website. This can help to improve user experience and increase the likelihood of conversions.
Local business markup provides search engines with information about your physical location, hours of operation, and contact information. This can help to increase the likelihood of customers finding and visiting your physical store.
Setting up schema markup for your products may take up a bit of time but once done can give your products a competitive edge and attract more potential customers. If you’re not sure if and what has been set up for your website already, you can use Google’s handy tool to test your pages.
