Introduction

Every Battery was founded in 2009, by an electrical engineer who wanted to see a battery store that provided independent battery advice to its customers, as most major chains are owned or affiliated with major battery brands. Every Battery has a focus on car batteries, deep cycle batteries, with some larger sales for solar batteries and solutions.

Insight

This project in partnership with Every Battery, won Best Use of Search – Automotive at the APAC Search Awards.

Every Battery found success with in-store sales, but struggled to expand its market share online. They were in need of significant online improvements and had ambitious growth goals when they joined Megantic in September 2023. They ultimately wanted to reduce their reliance on Google ads, by visibility and rankings of vehicle-related pages. Improving organic rankings and sales was essential to scaling back this ad spend and improving profitability. Another supplementary objective was to increase visibility and users on the store pages or GMP views.

Our Approach

We conducted in-depth research to identify and map all potential landing pages that customers were actively searching for. Based on this research, we designed a programmatic algorithm that dynamically generates categories by combining various factors such as car make, model, year, and fuel type. This approach significantly expanded the number of entry points for users searching for specific battery solutions.

Additionally, we optimised various aspects of the website, including on-site store pages, Google Business Profiles, product pages, and the checkout process, to effectively highlight Every Battery’s free or low-cost installation services. To further improve site performance, we enhanced overall site health and crawlability by minimising unnecessary JavaScript, reducing crawl depth, and optimising schema and Merchant Centre feeds, ensuring a more efficient and seamless user experience.

Year on Year Results

Using this combination of strategies allowed us to dominate across a huge number of low search volume keywords, leading to significant increases in impressions, clicks, and revenue. These keywords would typically be overlooked due their limited scope, but identifying the value in keywords allows us to build a substantial user count which we were then able to convert due to Every Battery’s customer service and reputation.

Summary

Our SEO strategy delivered an advanced landing page solution involving programmatic SEO. This project has been commended by the APAC Search Awards 2025 judges where the campaign took the first place for the title, Best Use of Search – Automotive.
