Introduction

Goldeluck’s Doughnuts was first established in 2018. They are not just doughnut shop or traditional bakery, they are a niche on-demand gifting business. In the past four years, they have served over 350K customers and been featured as one of the best doughnut shops in Melbourne in the Herald Sun.

Insight

Goldelucks joined Megantic in mid 2020 with the aim to grow their non-branded keywords and acquire new customers (especially interstate customers from around Australia). We discovered that they were marketing themselves as a “doughnut bakery” but our research showed that they would be better suited to aligning their website niche with their current (and future) customers.

Our Approach

After being engaged to manage Goldelucks organic channel we quickly identified onsite technical issues and some bad off-site practices that were fixed to help slow their downward trend. After we completed our full market research on the opportunities in the organic channel, it was clear that there was plenty of untapped potential. We worked together with Goldelucks to roll out a new website hierarchy with our data-driven research, along with their industry knowledge. We then began our off-site promotional strategy which assisted in support our on-site work, the results speak for themselves.

We also:

  • Created a segmented and customer-focused categorisation on the website
  • Optimised URLs and H1 tags
  • Added a breadcrumb structure to improve internal links
  • Customised metadata site-wide based on market research
  • Increased internal links through blog and product pages to grow target page rankings.
  • Created a focused landing page for New South Wales and Sydney customers

Year on Year Results

In under two years (May 2020 to February 2022), we have seen huge increases in Goldelucks’ organic traffic, transactions and revenue.
