Pet Chemist is an online pet business focused on providing health care products. They help to facilitate the supply of prescription medications Australian-registered Pharmacists to pet owners Australia wide, keeping the costs of expensive medications down by up to 50% when compared to purchasing directly from a vet.
Insight
Pet Chemist joined Megantic during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020, when they realised that more than ever Australian pet owners needed access to affordable healthcare products.
Pet Chemist were in desperate need of increasing their online presence in the organic market to make themselves visible to pet owners and increase the general awareness that pet medications can be accessed online.
Our Approach
We expanded and segmented pages based on how customers search for products, with categories based on pet type, medication type and pet dietary restrictions.
We also:
- Segmented URLs to minimise the amount of clicks needed to purchase a product
- Added indexable SEO-optimised filters
- Enhanced navigation for mobile visitors
- Added 301 redirects where needed.
- Optimised old Shopify URLs to maximise potential of BigCommerce’s folder structure
Year on Year Results
In under two years (June 2020 to February 2022), we have seen huge increases to their organic traffic, transactions and revenue.
Summary
Pet Chemist was not reaching their full SEO potential, and most importantly, was leaving their most lucrative customer base to competitors. Our approach provided a clear strategy for growth that has delivered amazing results. In only 12 months, Pet Chemist managed to outrank all their competitors. Our strategy to expand their website has directly resulted in the continued growth of their business.
