Introduction

Wahu is a homegrown Aussie brand, embracing all aspects of the classic Aussie outdoor lifestyle and producing quality toys and games for Aussie kids. Their online customer base consists of young parents, mainly women aged 25-45 who are shopping for the first time. A large majority of these buyers are in NSW, due to Wahu’s well-known sponsorship in Junior Rugby, but their market is Australia-wide.

Insight

We began working together in October 2021. The main goals of our partnership were to grow non-branded keywords and acquire new customers, specifically by focusing on high buyer-intent keywords. This strategy would allow more educated and ready-to-buy customers to find Wahu. The Wahu team were also in need of an urgent recovery for their failed migration from Neto to Shopify.

Our Approach

We began by conducting extensive research into Wahu’s product range and their target market and beginning the migration recovery process. During this process, we redirected 853 category and product URLs to the new pages on the Shopify site. We expanded Wahu’s organic reach through keyword research and restructuring the website’s hierarchy, by creating 27 new collections pages and writing 108 pages of new custom metadata on these pages.

We also:

  • Due to Shopify’s flat structure, we built out indexable static collections under the filters sections to incorporate the new collections and added internal links from on-page content.
  • Stimulated the campaign with ongoing growth activities from technical and on-page SEO activities.
  • Created 5-10 new backlinks per month.
  • Improved product description based on users FAQ search data.
  • Continued adding to the research every 6 months based on search trends and new product range. Recent additions included Barbie pool toys, The Little Mermaid, and Spiderman.

Year on Year Results

In just over a year (July 2023 to June 2024), we have seen great results for Wahu’s organic search results.

Summary

Our SEO campaign with Wahu succeeded through a transparent and collaborative effort between our team, the client, and their developers. The campaign drove and converted new consumers with a high conversion rate due to the specific type of individuals that were targeted. Our efforts extended to driving traffic and conversions through seasonally-driven promotional offers. This campaign showcases the power of collaboration and strategic planning in SEO.
